LHDC provides a solution not readily achieved by conventional smoke and heat fire detectors.

Linear Heat Detection Cable may be used to provide fire detection at all levels.

Linear Heat Detectors have been shown to respond in less than one minute to varying fire conditions with the LHDC in a position where it is protected from damage by the structure of the racking itself.

Linear Heat Detection Cable Systems are available with Zone Monitors that provide operating signals for sprinklers fitted with single shot actuators or deluge systems.

The racking area may be divided into "zones" on the following basis:-

• Physical Barriers
• Access ways etc., for fire fighting personnel
• Zoning of sprinklers or other extinguishants

Each Zone requires a length of Linear Heat Detection Cable and a Zone Monitor which may be located adjacent to the zone and, as well as the sprinkler actuation signal, provides repeat signals to a control area via a suitable interposing cable. Where the cable traverses other zones it should be of the Short Time Fireproof type.

At an area control panel the status of a number of zones may be displayed using either an annunciator matrix or a graphic display.
